Our Culture & Community

Oakland Music Education | Private School Community

We’re passionate about how PBA transforms our boys.

At 11:00PM, parents of PBA’s older boys wait outside the SF Symphony to carpool our boys back to Oakland  — and couldn’t be happier to do it.

PBA is a committed community that unites to celebrate ALL of our boys!

Our families come together to support a culture of high expectations and unparalleled life experiences. We grow close and watch together as our boys grow into exceptional young men.

PBA creates positive and enduring male friendships.

We understand the impact that peer groups have on boys! Shared musicianship and a strong community supports PBA boys to mature in a culture of healthy camaraderie and to form bonds that last a lifetime.

Older boys and alumni consistently tell us their most cherished friendships were forged at PBA — with the boys they sang with since grade school.

Strong Bonds & Thriving Boys

PBA Parents and Choristers Speak.

The Day School

Gifted, insightful and quirky — our Day School boys thrive with a unique musical environment and strong friendships.

Grades 2-8 are crucial periods in boys’ development — to their sense of safety, belonging and identity. PBA’s Day School provides an inclusive and welcoming environment that ensures all boys feel valued and connected.

Boys are uniquely seen at PBA’s Day School. The power of our small day school lies in individualized attention to each student’s unique challenges and strengths  — academically, socially and musically.

Striving for excellence builds character and self-esteem.

Choristers at PBA learn important lessons about poise and ease in front of groups of people. Their confidence and self-esteem grows. They become motivated to continue PBA’s 25-year reputation of producing the best youth choir and fine young men.

My family and friends are all impressed by my son’s school friends —  who stand out among their peers as polite, confident and very articulate young men.

What truly touches us is our son’s genuine love for his school. The small classroom cohort has fostered a supportive environment where every boy, despite their differences, respects and uplifts one another. Witnessing their camaraderie has been heartwarming.

Boys Sing with PBA through High School

Our boys continue to sing with PBA through their high school years!

After they graduate from PBA, our Day-School boys often attend different high schools — and their closest friendships are still the boys they’ve been singing with since elementary school!

All members of our High School Troubadors ensemble are former Day School boys. These boys return to PBA two evenings each week to continue developing their exceptional voices.
